Rules

Here's how the auction works:

Bidders may access the website at www.bbbshalton.ca .  Active internet bidding will commence on the 5th day of December, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.. The auction will close on the 11th day of December, 2011 at 9:00 pm.  Online bidding is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the close of bidding. The computer will automatically close the bidding, with the last/highest bidder being declared the winner & owner for each item.

CONDITIONS AND TERMS OF SUCCESSFUL BIDDING IN THE AUCTION:

1. Participation is open to anyone 18 years of age or over. Each item is described on the Internet including the vendor/donor.

2. Bidders must first register using their name, address and contact numbers and a valid email address before any bids may be placed. Bidders must also agree to the Rules and Regulations of the Auction as outlined.

3. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton will not provide any individuals’ information to any third party unless the registered bidder has indicated this is acceptable.

4. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton assume no responsibility for any claim associated with the items. The purchaser/successful bidder takes the item purchased "as is where is" and the vendor makes no representation as the fitness for purpose of any item.

5. When you enter a bid, you must enter the minimum starting bid to win the item.  Follow-up bidding must be in the increments stated on each item. 


7. PROXY BIDDING is NOT available. We are a charity auction. As such, we want to encourage you, the bidder, to offer as much as possible for the item. You may still win some real bargains, but please consider the goal - to raise money for vulnerable children.

8. Should you be the winning bidder you will be notified in the days following the auction by e-mail to make arrangements for item payment and pick up. Payment must be received by Visa, American Express or MasterCard or other payment as agreed upon between the successful bidder and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton, before pickup of an item occurs. 

9. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton have the final say on all winning bids or any dispute that may arise. At the discretion of the BBBS, should the winning bidder decline an item or should the winning bidder's payment method be declined, BBBS will determine from the bidding who the runner up is and they will be contacted as the new winning bidder.

10. All items will be picked up at one of 2 locations over a period of several days, except any items marked as "consignment" which will then be picked up directly from the vendor/donor's location as identified with the item.  Shipping of items can also be arranged with BBBS for an additional $5.00 for courier delivery or free with regular Canada Post service.  Shipping is limited by size and weight of item.  Not all items can be shipped.  Additional shipping charges apply for addresses outside of Halton Region.

Should you receive an email informing you that you are the highest bidder, you will be able to choose between the 2 pickup locations. This will happen at the same time you submit your payment information.  First you must call (905) 339-2355 with your payment information before any item can be picked up.

Tuesday, December 13th 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 14th  9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 15th   9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Friday, December 16th 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, December 17th 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Monday, December 19th 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Should a successful bidder require alternate pick up arrangements, please email events@bbbshalton.ca.

11. The first highest bidder of any particular item is defined as the successful bidder and the price of the item will be that first highest bid at the time of the close of the auction, December 11th at 9:00 p.m.


12. No taxes, No taxes, No taxes. Successful bidders automatically save 13% on any item! Applicable taxes still apply at the time of redemption when the item is a Gift Card.

13. Each bid shall be considered legally binding to purchase.

14. No bid made may be retracted.

15. The total purchase price must be paid in full by the successful bidder to the Auction Committee within 72 hours of receiving notice of winning the item, by Visa, American Express or Mastercard or other payment as agreed upon between the successful bidder and BBBS Halton.

16. All successful bidders winning gift certificates will be provided with a gift certificate either provided by the vendor/donor or created by BBBS Halton which can be presented to the business offering the item/service.

17. By bidding through www.bbbshalton.ca the bidder accepts these conditions of sale and acknowledges that they form part of the contract of sale and purchase.
